Wedding Wednesday

I was so excited when I stumbled up this idea! What a great alternative to a guest book! Because let's face it- every one signs it, you pack away in a box eventually, and forget about because who actaully goes back to see who signed their name in a book?

These little cards bring on the creativity! Everyone can write you a sweet little message and drop it in a decorative box. You can mount these in a book later to display them. I'm sure you will get some heartfelt thoughts and wishes mixed with some silly ones. I think it would be a lot of fun to read what people have written and I can't wait to try it out!

Wedding Wednesday

Lenox Jubilee

Dessert Knife & Server

I present to you, our first wedding gift! My great aunt gave us this serving set and I absolutely love it. She said she had to go with the pearls because she remembered how much I always loved pearls as a little girl. Every year, at Christmas time, we would go to FAO Schwartz and Rockerfeller Center in NYC to see all of the gorgeous decorations. She remembers my favorite trees were always the ones that were decorated with pearls and pink ornaments. I guess things haven't changed much since then! That just makes this gift so much more special and sentimential to me. There are matching toasting flutes that I am hoping to add to the set as well.

Sunday Fun Day

After the bridal expo (see previous post), we decided to go to the Crossings Premium Outlets for a little retail therapy. We didn't have much time to shop since everything closes at 6 on Sunday but we still managed to find a few things.
Here's what I got:
NYX - Eyeshadow - Herb
dark green with flecks of gold shimmer

NYX - Blush - Angel
pretty bubblegum pink

We went to the Juicy outlet but I didn't really see anything that I was crazy about. There was a black Daydreamer bag with a key charm on it that I really liked but I didn't want to buy it now and save it for next fall/winter. I might go back for it but I'm glad I held off because I found something else that I love....

...last but certainly not least my early birthday present from my mom!

My mom and my grandma got Coach bags for themsleves as well. They we handing out 20% off coupons at the door so we couldn't pass up the opportunity. I can't believe I chose Coach over Juicy!

Bridal Expo- To Go or Not to Go

So yesterday was such a great day. My mom, grandma, aunt, cousin, and I went to the NEPA Bridal Expo at Mt. Airy Lodge & Casino and we had a great time. I was skeptical at first about bridal expos because I was expecting a bunch of vendors using their hard selling tactics to lure you in. While that was the case for a few of the vendors, most of them were very friendly and they made it a pleasant experience.

Upon check-in, each bride was given a list of all of the vendors present. We had to visit each vendor and get their signature so we could submit our completed list at the end for a chance to win various prizes. There were butlered hor d' oeurves (spring rolls, jamacian chicken kabobs, mozzarella & tomato), cake samples and chocolates passed around and everything was delicious! They had several tables set up with place settings, centerpieces, and linens to give you ideas.

There was a fashion show at the end of the expo (the last hour and a half). They showed us different gowns and tuxes and gave away door prizes in between. There were several generous door prizes too- 1/2 off a bridal gown, 4 free tuxes, toasting flutes, cash giveaways, weekend get aways, just to name a few. Unfortunately, I didn't win any of them but I did secure a tuxedo vendor! I got a great deal- 2010 prices locked in, 1/2 off the guys tuxes, and a free tux for my fiance. Not too bad, right? I'm surprised to say this, but I think I would definately consider going to more of these expos. They are quite helpful and we had a lot of fun too!

Sarah Jayne Mist Heel

How pretty are these stilettos?!? They're by Sarah Jayne and I found them in Journey's believe it or not. I never think to go in there looking for shoes but my brother wanted a new pair of sneakers so I went with him and I am so thankful that I did because I found these. They come in blue, black, and red and they look amazing in either color.

I would definately wear these for a night out but I was also thinking they may be perfect paired with my wedding dress -something blue! I need a super high heel/platform because I'm 5'2'' and my fiance is 6'4''! They have a 5 inch heel and a platform base. I'm thinking they just might be made for me but I don't know how comfortable they will be. Maybe I can wear them for the ceremony & pictures and change into some cute (definately tall) wedges for the reception. But should I buy the shoe before the dress? Should I really buy shoes a year in advance?

First Wedding Wednesday Post

I love the simplicity of this cake. It's so elegant and delicate looking.
I like this one a lot too but I think it's because of the poppies.

I am in love with these little bird cake toppers, if you couldn't tell. Seriously, how adorable are they? They're so much better than the traditional bride and groom. There are a few sellers on etsy that make them but they are sooooo expensive...like $150 expensive! So I think I'm going to try to make them myself with a little inspiration from the ones pictured here. Wish me luck!

*Update*

It's been over a month since my last post but things have been really crazy- wedding planning is like a full time job! We set our date, May 21, 2011. We found our venue, we have our photographer, DJ, bakery, and officiant! I know it sounds crazy because it's a little over a year away and already, we have all of this planned but apparently it's not crazy at all. I can't believe how many vendors were booked already. It seems as if people plan their weddings like 2 years in advance! It was a labor of love finding the right vendors...especially the DJ and photographer! Our cake is going to be decorated by a girl who was on Hell's Kitchen- which is pretty exciting for us since we are into the whole Cake Boss thing. We have made some pretty awesome cakes ourselves with a little inspiration from that show.
I was going to start a seperate wedding blog until I found myself barely able to juggle planning, working, living, and this neglected little blog. So I think I'm going to try to post (at least) every Wednesday with a "Wedding Wednesday" post...starting today!
